Tax investigations can be triggered for a variety of reasons and any tax payer can be randomly selected for investigation. An enquiry can range from a simple query on your accounts, to a full tax investigation challenging the accuracy of your accounts and tax returns sometimes over a number of years. Enquiries can include investigating Directors’ personal tax returns, corporation tax, PAYE and VAT liabilities.
An Investigation or conflict with HMRC can be daunting and stressful. If you are selected for an enquiry we can take control of the investigation and liaise direct with HMRC on your behalf to ensure that you only pay what is due and that liabilities are established quickly with minimal fuss and disruption to you and your business.
We would aim to minimise any additional tax liabilities, interest or penalties and resolve the investigation as early as possible with a key objective of achieving the best possible outcome. We have an excellent track record in reducing initial tax liability assessments facing our clients.
Our team includes former senior tax and VAT inspectors from HMRC and individuals with private practice experience of advising businesses and individuals on their tax affairs, HMRC regulatory issues and tax investigations. This variety of experience allows us to provide you with a broad and detailed overview of your situation and recommend actions to cover all possible outcomes.
