HEALTHCARE - SERVICES WE PROVIDE
Those who operate in the Healthcare Sector, like most professionals, are in the main dedicated to the provision of high quality professional services for their clients.
However like many professionals over the last 20 years, those who operate within the Healthcare sector have been faced with many new and demanding challenges. In particular, there has been a marked shift towards greater awareness of general business commerciality although we are pleased to note the provision of the highest levels of professional care have remained in place throughout this time.
At Campbell Dallas, we prefer to view recent events not so much as a series of challenges but rather as opportunities where we can pro-actively assist our clients. Acting for a growing number of doctors, dentists and pharmacists, we are working daily to deliver the most comprehensive support service available.
The Work That We Do
At the back of this brochure there is a comprehensive list of all our services. Those with greater relevance to the Healthcare Sector are expanded upon below :
- accounts preparation – where our aim in preparing accounts for clients is not just to present accurate information which is a given, but to ensure that we assist our clients with pro-active business advice based on up to date trading information.
- all aspects of recurring personal and business taxation - from completion of self-assessment income tax returns to personal tax planning, from preparation of adjusted profit computations for tax to advice on eligible pension premium relief.
- specialist tax planning – liaising with our colleagues from the firm’s tax consultancy group to undertake work of a more complex non-recurring nature including capital and estate planning and personal wealth planning. Our specialist tax departments are staffed in part by former HMRC staff all of whom are ideally placed to support anyone selected for enquiry.
- all aspects of secretarial and payroll operation – to include processing of weekly, fortnightly, four weekly and monthly payrolls. On behalf of clients, we also prepare monthly PAYE remittances, deal with any enquiries raised by HMRC, prepare periodic statutory forms and process year end returns utilising internet submission to generate tax free incentive payments for clients.
- acquisition and disposal of a practice – assistance on all aspects is provided to a potential purchaser during the negotiation stages and if successful, further support is also provided where appropriate on book-keeping, payroll and other day to day activities to ensure the new business owner is left free to concentrate on running the business. On the other hand, disposal of a business requires planning primarily to minimise the tax exposure and reach agreement with HMRC on cessation tax liabilities.
- entry and exit from a partnership – both involve potential turbulence in the timing of tax payments which can be minimised with pro-active involvement at the earliest opportunity. Guidance is also provided for those leaving behind an employee position before embarking upon self-employment as a partner which involves many new obligations.
How We Do It
At Campbell Dallas, we are aware each prospective client has a choice when seeking to appoint an accountancy firm. Where this firm differentiates itself from others is by recognising the importance of delivering a value for money service – we pride ourselves on being big enough to cope, small enough to care. Taking things to an even higher level, we also recognised that there was a real need to create a Specialist Team dedicated to the Healthcare Sector.
Initially, we concentrate on the establishment of a solid working relationship between the Campbell Dallas team and the client. A key aspect of the relationship is the emphasis placed on encouraging communication between both parties. This will help ensure the firm fully meets the expectations of the client.
Our first task is to obtain a detailed understanding of the client’s business. This will include identifying the range of available in-house financial records and support personnel after which we will agree the range of compliance services to be undertaken. Should our preliminary review highlight areas of concern, these are in the first instance brought to the attention of the client with appropriate corrective action taken.
Whilst the firm offers a comprehensive range of support services that are available to all clients, we actively work wherever appropriate to improve the standards of in-house financial reporting through provision of adequate focussed training. Having reached this point however, we remain in close contact to assist with matters which will invariably still arise going forward.
Working to agreed realistic timescales, the compliance work is then undertaken with both parties having a pre-agreed understanding of their respective responsibilities. Each client within the firm is assigned to a partner who acts as the main point of contact. There is however a strong network of team members many of whom are qualified individuals providing additional support to the relationship. During this initial period, all support staff who assist the engagement partner are introduced to the client with emphasis placed on the formation of individual relationships going forward.
Other Services
The firm also welcomes the opportunity to advise on a wide range of ad-hoc assignments working on the same principles as above. All areas of the specific engagement are identified with suitable personnel identified to deliver a prompt and value for money service.
