Business Planning

All new business opportunities are exciting and at Campbell Dallas we want to help you take advantage of these opportunities.

A business plan should be prepared to formalise the new avenues open to your business. This plan should project a balanced view and include strengths, weaknesses and risks, with suggested actions to overcome any deficiencies. Whilst it should not be over optimistic, it should not lose the opportunity to sell to the potential investor or funder the opportunities which an investment would offer.

By preparing a business plan, you will be able to focus on:

  • Where is your business now.
  • How this opportunity will effect your business.
  • How it will take advantage of the present opportunities.
  • What steps and resources are required to achieve the goals set.

In many cases people who know very little about your business will read the business plan. You should therefore avoid jargon and obscure technical terms and write in a style that is concise yet informative clearly setting out the proposal, i.e. what are ‘we’ asking for and what do ‘they’ need to make a decision.

Your business plan should follow a format that is broadly in line with the following structure:

  1. Executive Summary
  2. The Proposal
  3. Background Information
  4. The Service or Product
  5. The Market and Marketing Strategy
  6. Management
  7. Future Strategy
  8. Financial Projections
  9. Appendices
