We act for many GP practices across Scotland providing a partner-led service that is proactive and specifically tailored to the needs of our GP clients.
As well as dealing with the compliance based services such as preparation of accounts, tax returns and superannuation certificates in a timely and efficient manner, we also provide additional services and information to help our GPs to better understand their financial figures and minimise potential tax liabilities. This is done by providing regular bulletins and seminars aimed specifically at topical issues for GPs and providing annual benchmark reports on how the finances of the Practice compare with the averages of other practices.
Our medical team is led by our partner, Neil Morrison, who has been working with GPs for over 20 years and is regularly asked to speak at seminars and contribute articles on financial matters affecting doctors. The medical team operates out of all five of our offices, thus providing local support for our medical practice clients.
The specialist areas that we have advised our GP clients on include the following:
- Surgery developments and refinancing of Practice premises;
- Advice on partnership agreements, (in particular financial clauses);
- Payroll processing and advice;
- Bookkeeping and computer advice;
In terms of billing, we agree a fixed fee with all our medical practice clients in advance of the work being performed and many choose to spread the cost over a year by monthly direct debit payment.
Our services are built around our four main commitments to our medical practice clients, which are:
- To provide the Practice with meaningful financial statements;
- To review the financial statements to ensure maximum profitability;
- To provide proactive advice to the partners and the Practice manager on financial, taxation and consultancy matters;
- To develop a close working relationship with the Practice.
