Staff Testimonials
Graham Alexander, Business Advisory Director
I am based in the Aberdeen office and have been with Campbell Dallas since the firm I previously worked with for nearly 22 years merged with Campbell Dallas on 1 August 2006. In many respects my working environment remains very similar to what it was, in that we still perceive our niche market to be owner managed businesses. Through working with such clients one achieves a great deal of satisfaction from providing genuine assistance on all types of queries which may arise, rather than simply fulfilling a compliance function. Working in Business Advisory Services means there is never a dull day since the tasks are presented to you by the client. The major change in having worked with a smaller Practice as compared to Campbell Dallas is to have a greater knowledge base to call upon when there are specific technical points to be addressed. This also enables you to have confidence to deal with issues which you may previously have had to refer to another professional. The firm has given me the opportunity to study for an MSC in Positive Leadership at Napier University. This has resulted in meeting fellow students from different fields and obtaining new ideas on how to operate within a commercial environment.
Michael Donnelly, Senior
I joined Campbell Dallas part qualified and resumed my training contract with the firm. Having previously worked in a larger firm I found the environment within Campbell Dallas immediately refreshing. There is a friendly, supportive atmosphere within the office which ensures that you feel valued as an employee and are not just viewed as a number which can be the case in larger firms. Another factor which makes Campbell Dallas a great firm to train in is the vast range of work constantly offering new challenges and opportunities to learn. From day to day I am involved in accounts preparation, audit and tax work. The variety of work ensures there is not tedious repetition but rather fresh challenges which assist learning and are invaluable in terms of my personal development. I have now completed my training contract and become a fully qualified CA. I believe that my experience gained at Campbell Dallas was a key factor in me achieving that goal.
Scott Kirkwood, Trainee
My first year working at Campbell Dallas has been a diverse, challenging and very enjoyable experience. There is a welcoming and friendly work environment, where students are encouraged to talk to other members of staff for guidance on work or advice when studying for exams. I have been given numerous tasks including preparing accounts and conducting audits for a varied range of clients from construction companies to bakeries. I was also given the opportunity to experience a different area of accountancy when I was seconded to the tax department for three months. This range in work has helped broaden my skills to use when studying for professional exams and ensured that a day at Campbell Dallas is never boring.
Martin Mason, IT Support Administrator
Along with the IT Director I help to support the IT function for the firm. This is a busy and varied role and involves me helping to support over 150 users across 4 locations, so I often have to think on my feet! No one day is ever the same, but this allows me to get involved in a range of IT activities and I also have a chance to take part in larger project work, which can involve staff from all levels of the firm working together. Since joining Campbell Dallas I have been made to feel welcome, the firm really does have a great working environment and I am being given a chance to challenge myself whilst continuing to learn new skills.
